Tooling Engineer

Tooling maintenance:
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation with regards to injection molding, stamping and assembly tooling, including solid models, assemblies and prints.
• Set and manage tooling maintenance scheduling and tracking system that is visual, accurate and adequate to meet all internal requirements.
• Set and use a data driven approach to tooling maintenance and repairs to predictively schedule necessary actions to minimize scraps generation, and machine downtime.
• Responsible for contacting tooling vendors for repairs in a timely manner and securing competitive quotes for repairs being performed.
• Responsible for tracking and predicting tool life and obtaining replacement components in a proactive manner to support demand and ensure product quality.
• Provide engineering floor support on production moulds for troubleshooting to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Promotes a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate new injection moulding, press and assembly tool trials at AIV and at toolmakers.
• Coordinate design reviews of proposed new assembly fixtures, equipment & production cells with factory for moulding and stamping department.
• Coordinate provision & installation of new assembly fixtures, equipment and production cells for molding and stamping department.
• Provide feedback to AI from suppliers, regarding potential design improvements & efficiencies.
• Daily communication with Australian office, regarding progress and current issues.
• Monitor production rates of new tooling & equipment, to ensure contracted efficiencies are achieved.
• For released to production tool and equipment, ensure that suppliers & toolmakers deliver all contracted requirements.
• Troubleshoot released to production equipment and tooling to achieve AI factory requirements.
• Find & assist in the evaluation of potential new tooling & equipment manufacturers.
• Support AIV factory with technical support, including efficiency improvements, ESR’s & ECR’s.
• Maintain a safe workplace and safe workplace practices.
• Other duties as required.
