JOB PURPOSE
The Chief People Officer serves as the strategic HR leader for a specific business unit (BU) within the bank, responsible for aligning people strategy with the unit’s growth objectives and operating model. The CPO partners with the HoD and leadership team to drive workforce transformation, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness within the business context—while ensuring alignment with the enterprise-wide people strategy set by the Head of Division.
This role bridges business and HR, ensuring the function delivers impact by designing and implementing people solutions tailored to the division’s needs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. People Strategy & Workforce Planning (BU-level)
• Translate the business unit’s strategy into workforce plans and end-to-end talent priorities.
• Lead workforce shaping initiatives, ensuring agility, productivity, and talent availability.
• Collaborate with CHRO and HR COEs to localize enterprise-wide HR programs for the BU.
2. Strategic HR Business Partnership
• Serve as the primary HR advisor to the BU Head and leadership team.
• Lead the HRBP team supporting the BU, ensuring consistent advisory, policy implementation, and performance enablement.
• Provide insights to influence business decisions around organization design, workforce shifts, and structural changes.
3. Talent, Leadership & Capability Development
• Partner with COEs to assess capability gaps and define tailored development solutions for the BU.
• Implement talent segmentation and succession planning aligned to the BU’s leadership pipeline needs.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and internal mobility.
4. Organizational Culture
• Champion the BU’s culture and values in alignment with group direction.
• Facilitate employee engagement, leadership alignment, and behavioral change initiatives that reinforce the business’s transformation.
5. HR Service Excellence & Operational Support
• Ensure high-quality HR service delivery through HRBP team and shared services interfaces.
• Support issue resolution, policy interpretation, and change management within the BU.
• Monitor and report HR metrics that drive BU performance (e.g., attrition, productivity, engagement).
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Oversee human resources planning and execution (headcount & costs) of their function
- Attract, onboard and retain the right talents for a high-performing team
- Establish and communicate function and individual KRAs/ KPIs, goals, action plan, expectations and results to reporting line
- Manage function performance & provide feedback regularly (following the annual performance management cycle);
- Define team’s capability requirements and enable team member’s professional and personal development through capability assessment, training, coaching & feedback, mentoring, etc.
- Motivate and recognize team members’ contributions towards the team’s shared goals.

• HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.
